I'm going to be honest, since July 27th I haven't watched anything on TV but the Olympics (in the small amount of time I have had to watch TV, that is). With this said, I am starting to feel like I know these people. Sunday night I found myself verbally 'coaching' McKayla Maroney before her vault event... which went a little less than awesome, for her standards.
With this said, today I bring you my thoughts on some of my favorite athletes from the 2012 London Olympics.
Missy Franklin.
This girl, is my all time favorite. I watched her on an interview and found myself in tears because of how sweet and genuine she is. Not to mention she's 17 and a total animal when it comes to swimming. And her "Call me, Maybe?" video-- hilarious.
Allyson Felix.
Team USA sprinter.... umm.. this girl is ripped. I need her trainer, or her workout routine, or to live her life for one day. Is that too much to ask?
Ryan Lochte
I was planning on writing about how I think Lochte will totally be taking over Phelps' spotlight now that he is retiring and how awesome I think he is... but then I couldn't type any more because I saw this ridiculous photo of him wearing a grill (I must have missed something). Really? Minus 10 points Ryan Lochte....
Gabby Douglas
This is a given, right? How could anyone have a bad thing to say about this girl. She is too cute for words and at the age of 16 she has already accomplished more than I will in my lifetime (pretty positive my face will never be on a box of cornflakes...). You go Gabby, you go!
Oscar Pistorius
If you haven't been watching the Olympics, then I highly recommend you Google or Youtube Pistorius any time you want to feel badly about yourself, or feel like you "can't" do something. Oscar Pistorius is a double amputee from South Africa. Although he got knocked out of the Olympics after finishing last in the 400m Semi-Finals, this guy still made it to the Olympics!! People, he has no legs and he is running faster than most of you (myself included) ever will. People like this inspire me, and make me realize that anything is possible. No physical circumstance kept Pistorius from the Olympics, so why are we letting our excuses keep us from our goals and dreams?
Food for thought!
Who are your favorite Olympic Athletes ?
